On 9th December, French president Emmanuel Macron presented the main priorities on which France will focus during its EU Council Presidency.
France will be taking over the Presidency in a challenging context, marked by an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which is continuing to putting a strain on health care systems, citizens’ health, the vulnerable population, but also everyday life.
Under the motto of an Independent, Autonomous, and United Europe, the Presidency will also focus on health and ageing policies. Throughout the Presidency period, there will be opportunities to discuss on policy options to improve resilience of Europe, better investment into health, and the role of digital technologies in health.
The agenda of the upcoming French Presidency of the Council of the EU outlines various interests in health and digital health, which are also relevant possibilities for the SHD Coalition to make its voice heard on these matters. The next months will then be full of opportunities to continue raise awareness of SHD at European level.
