Spanish Senate approves Motion on addressing structural heart diseases

After taking part in a virtual debate on the impact of COVID-19 and structural heart disease in the elderly, socialist Senator Mrs. Mª Esther Carmona proposed in the Health Committee of the Spanish Senate a motion in the Health Committee of the Spanish Senate asking the Government to take themeasures necessary to tackle functional decline in the elderly through the efficient management of and efficiently manage structural heart diseases.

The Motion, which was approved by a large majority, puts the topic of cardiovascular health management at the centre of the healthcare agenda and calls for a new national Cardiovascular Health Strategy in the country, which should inform future actions in this area. The Strategy is expected to come into effect in the coming months, once input has been collected from by all the Spanish regions.
