That this House notes the urgent need to introduce a national population screening for structural heart diseases for adults over 65 years old; recognises the need to tackle challenges that structural heart diseases pose to older people and prioritise healthy ageing strategies; notes that the number of people affected by structural heart diseases is growing and by 2040 could reach 2.5 million people over 65; further notes that a national screening would strengthen the requirement for early detection alongside with NHS Health Check which helps to recognise the first indication of any heart conditions; further recognises the need to provide the best treatment available for patients of all age groups to ensure that patients are able to actively contribute to society; and calls on the Government to allocate available NHS funding into innovation for early, proactive and curative treatment for structural heart disease.
